International Conflict Resolution in Geneva and London (Summer Only)

Summer 2010 dates (London portion): 5-26 June.

The six-week programme consists of a two-module course. The first module is designed to explore conceptual aspects of Conflict Resoultion in Geneva, focusing also on organisations that promote these ideas. The second module in London follows with critical evaluations of case studies and participation in workshops and excursions, culminating in panel discussions and a research project.

Faculty

Paul CousinsDr. Paul Cousins holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has taught at a number of higher education institutions in his career, including Kingston Polytechnic, Canterbury Christ Church College, the University of Kent, the Open University and Goldsmiths College, London. Currently teaching politics, history and related areas, he has been with BU in London since it started over twenty years ago. From 1998 to 2007 he was Senior Tutor, advising the Resident Director on academic matters. He was Acting Resident Director in Dublin for a semester in 2005 and has worked with BU centres in Geneva, Paris, and Sydney. He has been a Member of the BU London Board since its establishment in 2007.

Mr. Djacoba L. Tehindrazanarivelo, Lecturer in International Law and Organizations. Djacoba Tehindrazanarivelo teaches Public International Law and International Organizations at Boston University Geneva Programme. He has also served as Visiting Lecturer (2004-2005) at the Graduate Institute of International Studies (HEI). His research interests concentrate on the UN collective security mechanism, the legal aspects of the activities of the African Union (AU), and on migration and racism. In 2005, he published a book on social and humanitarian impacts of UN economic sanctions (Paris, Presses Universitaires de France). He has also various publications on the AU peace and security activities, as a means to achieve African development and integration, the ultimate goal of the AU. Mr. Tehindrazanarivelo received his PhD from HEI.
