Boston University Alumni in London
Events
The Boston University Alumni Liaison Office frequently organises events for BU Alumni and Friends. Often, these events are associated with Boston University British Programmes, such as our Thanksgiving Concert, held at the newly renovated Boston room at 43 Harrington Gardens, given by students participating in the CFA Music Programme at the Royal College of Music.
Recent Events
The Early Reception of Darwin in London, a lecture given by Dr. Thomas F. Glick.
The talk explored how the constant shuttling of Bostonians back and forth between England and Boston affected the US reception of Darwin's theories.
Prior to the lecture, there was an optional tour of the Darwin Centre at the Natural History Museum in South Kensington. As the Darwin Centre is scheduled to open in September 2009, this tour offered a sneak peek of the museum's collection and new facility.
Dr. Glick is professor of History at Boston University where he teaches courses on medieval Spain, medieval science and technology, and the history of modern science. He is co-chairman of the Provost's Darwin Bicentennial Committee and coordinates the operations of Boston University's ongoing celebration.
