LA: London Arts/Architecture Internship Tutorial

Internship Tutorial Overview

Internship Tutorials will offer students the opportunity to meet with each other and a member of faculty in order to reflect upon their internship experience. Since your London placement is an academic course, in addition to performing a role in a British organization, you must also meet a number of academic requirements to successfully complete the placement. During your Tutorial you will be required to produce coursework related to your internship. The quality of your work on these requirements will account for your final grade. The Internship Tutorials will meet on three occasions; the first meeting near the last Core class, the second meeting during week nine, and the third meeting during week twelve.

Course Objectives

Aims: To provide a coherent, systematic and analytical interpretation of the Internship Programme. Therefore it is essential to combine academic coursework with the work experience. These two strategies: theoretical and professional are designed to complement each other. The course will be academically directed, as the work experience is unpaid, it for-credit assessment. The internship placement itself cannot otherwise be conceived as part of the academic program. The academic graded credits are based on the requirements detailed below in the course syllabus. Its scheduling is such as to allow the student to work during the Internship, while allowing contact hours for the accompanying seminar based sessions. Objectives: To ground students in the working process of the host culture and at the same time to enable an increased understanding of international professional practice. The Internship placement is therefore a component of a larger, integrated academic experience, typically a four-credit course in a sixteen-credit semester.
